Comics: She Hulk
Jennifer Walters was a pretty low key repressed law student. She was mousy, she was quiet and she didn't do anything to draw any attention to herself. The person she was closest to was her cousin Bruce.
Cousin Bruce
After getting shot by mobsters Bruce Banner gives Jennifer an emergency blood transfusion to save her. And following comic book logic this is guaranteed to turn her into a mutated freak of nature. However unlike her cousin she has had an easier time of controlling herself in her Hulk form.
Even more unlike her cousin, she actually likes how she is when she's the She Hulk. Because of the change in her outward appearance and her knowledge that she can't be hurt it caused her to be able to come out of her shell as it were. She's bubbly and fun, and thrilled with being a super being. She's stronger than almost anyone in the Marvel Universe and she's almost impossible to damage.
But her real power is her brains. She's really a brilliant lawyer, even helping Spider-Man successfully sue J. Jonah Jameson for defamation (he was going to win, but then was subpoenaed as Peter Parker who was then named in the suit, so he decided to settle).
She is even chosen to be a part of a galactic tribunal to hear and judge cases across the galaxy. She even manages to beat Blizzard sitting down, just by buying him drinks at a bar. In her She Hulk form she can't get drunk, so as they talk and keep drinking he eventually takes himself out and she tells the bartender to call the police.
She's got ties to just about everyone else in the Marvel Universe, she's been an Avenger, a Defender and even replaced Thing on the Fantastic Four for a time:

Not She Hulk, but Thing in a wig
Of course she does have flaws. She's had occasions where she has lost control and become a mindless savage. In one instance she lost her mind and it was Hulk himself who tried to talk her down. Also her mutation and subsequent loss of inhibition does make her a little umm...affectionate. She's gotten down with Iron Man, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage, Starfox, she even made a pass at Wolverine.
Oh...and as I mentioned before: Hercules
Because of all of these things Jennifer Walters is probably the most layered character in the Marvel Universe.
